BECOME A WATER STATION SPONSOR
We are seeking local businesses who would like to become an official “water station” sponsor and receive the public relations and advertising benefits in this proposal. We will also be offering your business the opportunity to win back sponsorship dollars by coming up with a creative idea.
Each volunteer, will receive a volunteer t-shirt, an invite to the Volunteer Party, and given very specific directions on how to do a water station, the course map, directions to get to their location and any other details. Also, we will supply the water station with all equipment to include water, Gatorade, cups, garbage boxes, and tables.
If possible, we ask that you have your employees decorate or create a theme for their water station. Be sure to hang a banner with your business or organizations name on it so that spectators, the media and participants can see it. In the past ideas have ranged from: a western theme, to the Green Bay Packers, etc. We then judge the water stations and offer back to your employees a chance to win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.
Training runs will meet every Saturday starting on January 3 at Planet Perk in Oshkosh at 7 a.m. beginning with a 4 mile run. Please call 920-574-2972 with questions. Click here for training run schedule.
The BIG CONNECTION
The past Oshkosh Half Marathon will adopt a full marathon in 2015 with the recent completion Tribal Heritage Trail that connects the Wiouwash State Recreational Trail east and west over Hwy 41. Organizers have always had a vision for a full marathon. The problem was creating a 26.2 mile marathon course within a city that is divided by a railroad that is used excessively by a train system. The Tribal Heritage Trail will offer runners 11 kiosk overlooks of the Lake Butte Des Mort’s causeway. If they choose to stop at any of these 11 points they can also read about the use of this waterway of Native American Tribes with information on the natural history of those tribes.
According to Ben West, Race Director, “We are excited to give runners an opportunity to experience the serenity and beauty of the Wiouwash Trail and the trail's softer surface gives your body a break, too. It is so conducive for a marathon distance of 26.2 miles.” This date's average temperature is 52 degrees.
Get a front row seat as a volunteer! Volunteers are needed throughout the event to help with participant body marking, directing athletes on and off the course, and handing out water and food. All volunteers receive a t-shirt and a big thank you!!! To volunteer: firstname.lastname@example.org or call Mike at: 920-574-2972
